Devon Powerboating
The RYA Powerboat Instructor Course is run over 3 days. Successful candidates will
be qualified to teach up to RYA Powerboat Level 2. Additionally they will be able
to teach the Safety Boat course if they already hold this certificate. To teach at
the higher levels requires successful completion of the Advanced Instructor training
course. Preparation training for these courses is available, please see the bottom
of this page.
Course Aim: To enable you to be confident in teaching the RYA Level
1 and 2 scheme, and safety boat if you hold your safety boat certificate.
Duration: 4 days including pre-entry assessment.
Experience: Candidates should ensure they have the minimum pre-requisite experience
and qualifications as outlined in the RYA Powerboat Instructors handbook (G19), namely:
5 seasons' experience, RYA Level 2 Powerboat Certificate and a current First Aid
Certificate. A VHF/DSC Certificate is also recommended.
Costs: Individual on course of 3 students £475.
Group booking for 3 people £1275.
Preparation Day
In addition to the formal RYA Powerboat Instructor's course, Devon Powerboating offers
a Preparation day to refresh your skills. This is offered immediately prior to the
start of each Powerboat Instructor course. This optional day is charged separately
and candidates do not have to attend, but may find it advantageous to familiarise
themselves with the centre, equipment and operating areas. Please call for further
