Terms & Conditions for own boat tuition.

1. The instructor is responsible for the boat and crew therefore he has power of refusal on the vessels suitability.
2. The vessel must be suitable for operation within the proposed sea area.
3. Navigation lights must be fitted and operational.
4. VHF/DSC radio fitted and working - a handheld is also acceptable.
5. Engine emergency “Kill Switch” switch and lanyard must be fitted and operational.
6. Sufficient fuel and lubricants carried for envisaged usage.
7. Vessel must be equipped with a suitable First Aid kit.
8. Vessel must carry anchor, chain and warp appropriate for the area, and carry a towline.
9. Vessel must be equipped with alternative means of propulsion - paddles, oars or spare engine,& carry engine spares with a minimal toolkit.
10. Suitable protective clothing and flotation aids must be available for all crew members.
11. As a minimum 2 orange smoke & 2 pinpoint red or day/night flares must be carried.
12. Costs of fuel, launching and miscellaneous payments (licences etc) are the responsibility of the vessel’s owners.
13. The vessel is fully insured for training use with the necessary 3rd party liability insurance.
14. We reserve the right to refuse to teach in any vessel considered unsuitable/unsafe by our instructor.
15. Should the vessel become unserviceable once a course has commenced Devon Powerboating shall negotiate with students a suitable and acceptable solution. This may incur extra cost, however Devon Powerboating will endeavour to keep this to the minimum.
